How to fix those stones!

The best way to fix the stones is with a purpose made Hot-Fix-Applicator.
Use the Hot-Fix-Applicator to fix the stones individually.
The glue is already on the back of the stone. Place the stones where you would like them and then apply heat. You will see and feel the glue melt and then it is well and truely welded on. How long it takes for the glue to melt depends on the size of the stone.
With an iron: You can place several stones and then iron them on trying to get equal pressure on all stones. I have done this but there does always seem to be the odd stone that escapes, and then I'm back to my soldering iron.

I have fixed the stones onto a huge variety of materials (including card and paper) and have put them through the washing machine with no ill effects. However they don't fix well to leather and can damage the leather.
